Prisoner reoffending rates on the rise
- The Northern Territory had the highest rate of reoffending while South Australia had the lowest. On average there were more than 40,000 prisoners in Australian jails per day in the last financial year. Women made up 8.1 per cent of the prison population and Aboriginal inmates represented 27.6 per cent.
