Aboriginal press photographer reveals work
Aboriginal press photographer reveals work - The free display, entitled Mervyn Bishop, opens at the Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW) in The Domain on Saturday and will run until October 8, including a "Slide night with Uncle Merv" in July to align with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander celebrations for NAIDOC Week. "I have been taking pictures for some time and realising this exhibition is very much a part of my life and my dreaming," the 72-year-old said in a statement, adding that he was thrilled for his work to receive such attention. Bishop's passion for the still image began in his hometown of Brewarrina, east of Bourke, in northwest NSW.
