- "I just donated two big canvas pieces to the village. When tourists come up, they view our scenic landscape, drink the fresh water up in the highlands and see our arts. We want to offer something different from the usual tourism activities," he said.
Mr Malai has come a long way from the once struggling artist who would knock at doors to sell his art pieces.
The freelance visual artist as well as craftsman has since had his work showcased at Art Festivals around the Pacific including Australia and New Zealand.
